Grapeseed Extract for Alzheimer's Prevention

Regular intake of grapeseed extract may help shield your brain from Alzheimer's disease, a new study finds.
In tests on rats, researchers discovered that the amount of grapeseed extract that can reach the brain may be as much as 200 percent higher on the tenth consecutive day of treatment as compared to the first. Therefore, the study's authors suggest, regular consumption of grapeseed extract may be more beneficial than single, high doses.
Rich in antioxidants, grapeseed extract may help prevent the formation of amyloid beta (a substance that forms the brain plaques associated with Alzheimer's disease). Past studies show that a combination of curcumin (a compound found in the curry spice turmeric) and vitamin D may also help clear the brain of amyloid beta.
For more help in reducing your Alzheimer's risk, make sure to stick with a healthy diet (high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and low in saturated fats), exercise regularly, and keep mentally and socially active as you age.
